Chris and I have been chatting. And in our family goals we want marriage to trump parenting. You may agree or disagree but I think a good marriage is one of the best parenting things we can do. Trust me .. this is not easy........ Sweet Pea and I are very different in a lot of ways and very similar in some. It is work.. and patience and compromise and I am writing this as a learner and not an expert. Trust me our marriage is far from perfect. I welcome suggestions on things to read etc.. from any of you... Hugs, Gieselle/ Gigi

ReplyDeleteHi G... One movie we watch (acting wasn't great, but the message IS!) was "Fireproof". I highly suggest it, or getting the book/workbook. And I believe that a good marriage is a wonderful example to set for our children. A good/great marriage may not teach everything we need as parents, but it is a solid foundation to build other parenting skills upon. And I also believe, if we work together in parenting, tag-teaming when needed, it also helps build the connection in the marriage. My husband and I always seem to work better together when we feel we are on the same team. Being on the same team helps in parenting. Marriage and parenting; one can weaken the other (if not on the same page) or strengthen the each other.
ReplyDeleteLove and miss you. -T
